Gaby Miley founded XanderLyn in April 2015 with five chairs in Old Town Scottsdale. The salon later moved to a larger space in May 2020 and has expanded three times since opening. The name combines the first names of the founder's children.

About

The team describes itself as a family and calls the group the Xamily. Stylists choose their own working days, including Sundays and Mondays, and set their own appointment times. The salon says it only brings on beauty image artists who have advanced education, distinctive experience and a commitment to ongoing training. It describes the space as relaxed and elegant, with clients and staff treated like family.

A visit usually starts with a conversation. The artist takes time to learn what the client needs and wants before recommending a service. Color services include a personalized consultation and aftercare suggestions, and special occasion and wedding hair are preceded by a consultation. Extension artists explain how to maintain extensions and offer product recommendations and styling tips.

The salon has 12 hair stations and a full-service beauty treatment room, which it says is equipped with state-of-the-art tools. It states that its professional products are safe, responsibly sourced and scientifically backed. Clients can buy R&CO products through the salon's website, which also has a section on premium salon tools and products.

Treatments are tailored to each client's face shape, skin type and hair characteristics, after the team takes time to understand the client's needs and goals.
