About

ESKMD is a facial plastic surgery practice at 737 Park Avenue on the Upper East Side, run by Dr. Edward S. Kwak. The practice describes itself as New York's premier facial plastic surgeon, and it lists a five-star rating from 243 reviews on Birdeye.

Surgical work covers facelifts (mini and deep plane options), rhinoplasty in revision, ethnic and teenage forms, Asian rhinoplasty, Asian eyelid and ptosis surgery, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, chin and cheek augmentation, ear surgery, lip lifts, neck lifts and hair restoration. Hair restoration is done with FUE, which leaves no visible scarring, or FUT, which leaves a linear scar. Functional nasal procedures include balloon sinuplasty, nasal fracture repair, nasal valve surgery, septoplasty and septum perforation repair. Reconstruction covers facial trauma, scar revision and skin cancer reconstruction, the last worked on together with a team of oncologists.

Pro-Nox, a nitrous oxide device, is available to ease discomfort during non-surgical visits.

Consultations can be virtual (by phone, text, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Hangouts) or in person. Rhinoplasty and other nasal surgery require an in-person assessment before surgery, because a video visit cannot fully show internal nasal anatomy, and any surgery needs an in-person final assessment. For virtual visits the practice asks for photos in natural light without makeup, showing at least front and profile views. A consultation typically runs about 60 minutes. The consultation fee ranges from $350 to $650 and is applied toward a procedure, while a consultation with a patient adviser is complimentary. The consultation fee is paid by card when booking.

Procedures take place at the practice's private surgical center, which the practice describes as newly established and meeting AAAASF accreditation standards, or at an accredited ambulatory surgery center or an NYC affiliated hospital. General anesthesia is given by board-certified anesthesiologists. Payment can be made by cash, check, credit or debit card, or financing through CareCredit (six months with no interest, plus extended options) or PatientFi, which uses a soft credit check and offers some 0% APR plans. Cancellations need 72 hours' notice; Monday appointments need notice by 5pm the Friday before, and missed appointments without notice are billed the consultation fee. Visits covered by insurance cannot be booked online and are arranged by phone, text or email.

Rhinoplasty is planned to keep natural nasal contours and function while reshaping the bridge, tip and nostrils, and non-surgical plans such as Ultherapy and Halo laser are customized to each patient's anatomy and goals.
