Equilibrium Salon

Equilibrium Salon operates as a one-person studio in Suite 121 of a Matthews office building, so each client is the only one in the room. Katrina is the owner and sole stylist, and she sets aside dedicated time for every appointment rather than working a busy floor. The studio is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and it is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Walk-ins are not accepted, so clients book ahead.

The menu is organized into men's haircuts, women's haircuts, youth haircuts, waxing, and memberships. Men's cuts come in four tiers: The Essential at 45 minutes, which includes a consultation, precision cut, straight razor neck shave, steamed towel, and massaging shampoo; The Standard, which adds an invigorating scalp treatment; The Signature, with an extended shampoo or double scalp treatment; and The Ultimate, the longest men's visit at about 1 hour 15 minutes, which adds a professional beard trim. The salon describes The Ultimate as its most complete haircut and grooming experience. Women's cuts follow a similar tiered structure, from a 45-minute precision cut with light rough dry styling up to a 1 hour 20 minute visit with a scalp ritual, conditioning treatment, customized cut, blowout, and hot-tool finish. Women's cuts do not use hot tools unless the top tier is booked.

Youth haircuts are a focus of the studio. Adolescent cuts are for ages 11 to 15, run 45 minutes, and include a shampoo and a complimentary beverage. The studio lists itself as kid friendly.

Other details: the Wax Bundle combines three waxing services into one 30-minute appointment for $35. Monthly memberships for men include four visits of a chosen men's cut each month, billed monthly. Gift certificates from $10 to $1,000 never expire and can be sent by email or text, either right away or on a date the buyer picks; sales are final and cannot be exchanged for cash. Free parking is available in the lot, and the suite is wheelchair accessible. Wifi and complimentary beverages are offered. Payment is accepted by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and cash. Clients are asked to give as much notice as possible to cancel or reschedule. Currently there are no cancellation fees.

Katrina works as the only stylist in the studio, so each appointment gets her full attention. She talks through options before starting a cut, encourages clients to bring reference photos, and keeps notes on preferences to use on later visits.
