Kristy Lamb opened Elevations Hair Design in 2006 with the aim of offering high-quality self-care services at a fair price. The studio started in Garden Home, moved to Raleigh Hills in 2011, and settled into its current suite in 2022. The studio describes itself as a boutique salon experience, and it has a bright, airy feel that is quieter and more relaxed than a typical salon.

About

The studio is open Monday through Wednesday, from 11:30am to 7:00pm, by appointment only, and does not take walk-ins. Mondays and Tuesdays are usually one client with the owner in the studio, while Wednesdays are busier. Appointments are personal and one-on-one, and silent appointments can be requested for those who prefer no conversation. Clients get free WiFi and free parking in a large lot shared with the neighboring McMenamins, with no meters. Typical last appointments are around 5:00 to 5:30pm for color, 6:00pm for a medium-to-long haircut, and as late as 6:30pm for a short cut.

Online booking shows availability four weeks ahead, and a cancellation list is available for earlier openings. A credit card on file is needed to secure online bookings. Courtesy notice of 48 hours is requested for cancellations. Cancellations or reschedules made within 24 hours of an appointment are charged to the card on file: $20 for a 30-minute appointment, $50 for a one-hour service, and $120 for longer services such as color or extensions, on a first occurrence. Repeat late cancellations or no-shows are charged the full service price. Reminders go out automatically by text or email, and clients can opt out. Payment is accepted by credit card, Venmo, Zelle, and cash.

Haircuts start at $40 and range up to $85 depending on hair length, thickness, and complexity, and every cut includes a consultation. Color prices start at $75 and vary with technique, product, and time, and the studio cannot give estimates without an in-person consultation, which can be booked briefly beforehand. Tape-in extensions require a free consultation before a first appointment, and the extension deposit is forfeited for a cancellation or no-show.
