Windowwall was founded by Kim Namanny, its creative director, who has worked in hair for more than 15 years across New York and Portland. Her background includes time at Bumble and Bumble, teaching at the Aveda Institute SoHo, and working as a top stylist at Seagull in New York's West Village. The salon describes its approach to modern hair design as collaborative, with the focus on helping each client shape a personal style.

The salon is on the third floor, above street level, which gives clients privacy. The building entrance is locked, so visitors use the callbox at the main SE 11th Street entrance, select Windowwall, and are buzzed up. Visits begin with stylists acknowledging each client's look on arrival, followed by a consultation to draw out individual style. New clients are encouraged to book a consultation with a stylist before booking an appointment. Stylists offer online booking, and each stylist's bio is on the website.

Prices depend on hair length, texture, thickness and the time a service needs, and vary by stylist, so clients are asked to contact their stylist directly for an accurate quote. The salon says everybody is welcome.

Paid parking is in the lot directly behind the building on SE 11th, where visitors buy a ticket for the length of their appointment. Street parking is also available on Division, subject to posted restrictions.
