Elegance by Emily operates from its own suite inside Phenix Salon Suites of Greenbrier in Chesapeake. The business moved there from an earlier suite in Western Branch after that building closed unexpectedly. Clients come from across the Hampton Roads area, including Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News and Williamsburg.

Every visit starts with an onboarding interest form for new clients, followed by a consultation about hair goals, challenges, budget, maintenance preferences and daily lifestyle. Appointments are one-on-one. The salon describes its approach as personalized and built around each client, and it provides a complimentary beverage and snack during the consultation along with product recommendations and home aftercare instructions.

Blonding ranges from Soft Glow mini blonding and mini highlights at $230 to Brighten Up partial blonding at $310 and the Glow Up Experience full blonding at $345, which the salon says is its most requested blonding service. The Blended Blonde at $310 softens brightness, adds depth and can include lowlights or copper. The Refresh toner service, starting at $170, is for existing blonde hair and cancels warm or brassy tones. Color services include the Redhead Experience and the Brunette Experience, each $260 plus a product charge.

Color and blonding services carry a product charge added to the starting price, based on the product used, and that charge will not exceed $170. According to the salon, a root retouch product charge typically runs about $10 to $15, and a full head of highlights with toner typically runs about $75 to $115. A non-refundable 20% retainer secures appointments for services priced at $100 or more and is credited toward the final cost. The retainer is not required for services under $100, wedding bookings, or minor extras. If a client reschedules, the retainer moves to the new appointment. A no-show, or a cancellation without rebooking, forfeits the retainer. If the salon cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, the retainer is applied to the client's next appointment.

Hours are Tuesday 10am to 7pm, Thursday 10am to 4:30pm, Friday 10am to 2:30pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm, and the owner may open some listed closed days for extra hours. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. Families are welcome: there is room in front of the chair for a car seat, stroller or wagon, a comfortable seat for one guest or child, a microwave for warming meals or bottles, and a private space for pumping or nursing. Clients can also set up their own music playlist.

Plans are built around each client's hair goals, budget and lifestyle, with the stylist explaining the process during services.

The suite is soft, feminine and cozy, and each visit is one-on-one in a spa-like setting with touches such as essential oils and hand massages.
