Dirty Blond Salon

Dirty Blond Salon opened in 2010 as a private, open-air hair studio at the beach. It now operates from Balboa Avenue in Pacific Beach and is owned by Lori. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am to 6pm, Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and the studio is closed Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

Each appointment is private, with one client and no one else in the room. Hair shaping takes about an hour and starts at $120. It begins with a consultation covering a client's features, hair texture, lifestyle and how much time they want to spend styling.

Blonding sessions start at $375 and refresh color and shape, with optional seasonal tone adjustments. They take about three hours and include a gloss and a bond-building treatment. Transformations are for a major change in look or color, or for a full color service when hair has gone more than three months without color. They run about four hours, include the same gloss and bond-building step, need a consultation to set the price, and require a 50% deposit when booked.

Gray coverage is a global root coverage service for clients who color their hair, usually repeated every four to eight weeks to cover new growth. The salon says the products it uses are non-toxic.

Arriving late means the appointment is rescheduled so sanitation schedules can be followed. Cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead are charged 50% of the scheduled service, and no-call, no-show appointments are charged 100% to the credit card on file. Clients accept the salon's terms of service when booking.

The salon states that its products are non-toxic, and it keeps every appointment one-on-one with no other clients present.
