Electrolysis works by placing a sterile probe into each follicle and applying an electrical current that destroys the part of the follicle producing hair, after which the hair is removed. Some hairs clear in a single visit, while others need several treatments depending on hair type. Because hair grows in cycles, most areas take more than one appointment to clear permanently. The business says the method is less painful and less time-consuming overall than shaving or waxing.

Clients are asked to remove makeup before an appointment and to avoid caffeine for a few hours beforehand, which the studio says makes treatment more comfortable.
