Medical dermatology covers the diagnosis and management of skin, hair and nail conditions for patients of all ages. Pediatric care is offered for infants, children and teenagers, including pediatric eczema and adolescent acne. Conditions treated include acne, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, rashes, hives, skin tags, autoimmune and inflammatory skin conditions, scalp conditions, hair loss and hair thinning, hair infections, fungal infections, ingrown toenails, brittle or splitting nails and green nail syndrome. Long-term conditions such as chronic acne and rosacea are followed with regular visits. Preventive care includes annual full-body skin exams that check moles, suspicious lesions and precancerous growths, along with skin cancer screening and biopsies. For systemic conditions, the dermatologist coordinates with patients' primary care physicians. The practice says it treats more than 3,000 conditions of the skin, hair and nails.
Surgical dermatology includes Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. During Mohs, the area is numbed and thin layers of skin are removed one at a time. Each layer is examined under a microscope in the on-site pathology lab during the same visit, and the process continues until no cancer remains. The practice says its Mohs surgery has a cure rate of up to 99% for new skin cancers and heals with less scarring than standard excisional surgery. Melanoma treatment involves excising the spot along with a wide margin of healthy tissue. Larger spots are cut out with excisional surgery and closed with stitches, and nurses use advanced suturing techniques and teach patients how to care for the area at home. Benign growths that rub against clothing or look abnormal can be removed in the office. Moles can be shaved off and sent to a laboratory for testing, cysts are removed by extracting the entire cyst sac, and skin tags can be removed in a few minutes with no downtime.
Cosmetic dermatology includes injectable neuromodulators, sold as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin, used for crow's feet, frown lines, worry lines, laugh lines, forehead furrows, wrinkles and excessive sweating. Injections are given without anesthesia and may cause a small sting. Effects are temporary and often need repeating two to three times a year. Dermal fillers restore facial volume, enhance lips and cheeks, soften creases, smooth lines around the nose and mouth and improve symmetry. Results are immediate, mild bruising and swelling may occur, and fillers are not permanent, so they are repeated every few months. Neither neuromodulators nor fillers help with sagging or excess skin. Other cosmetic options include microneedling, chemical peels, medical-grade facials, laser skin resurfacing at the Wellington office for hyperpigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and acne scarring, ThermiVa and ThermiSmooth radiofrequency procedures, and laser treatment for spider and purple veins on the legs. According to the practice, the dermal fillers it uses are FDA-approved, and clinical-grade skincare is recommended based on skin type.
Each first visit starts with a look at the patient's skin history and the area of concern, then the provider explains the next steps before any treatment begins. Plans are tailored to each patient, and patients are invited to voice concerns and share their history. The Wellington and Delray Beach offices provide the same medical, cosmetic and surgical services, so patients may book at whichever location is nearer. Wellington sees patients on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and Delray Beach on Mondays and Wednesdays, with both running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Either office can arrange a Saturday visit on request. Online booking requests are provisional until staff phone to set the date and time. New patients can finish their registration online via the new patients center. Please arrive roughly 15 minutes ahead and bring a photo ID plus your insurance card. Most major carriers are accepted at both offices, among them Aetna, Humana (excluding Medicaid and HUMX plans), UnitedHealthcare and TRICARE Standard, while Cigna excludes Local Plus plans and Blue Cross Blue Shield / Florida Blue excludes Blue Care HMO. Patients should verify their coverage. Claims are submitted to insurers only when the patient is free to pick their own dermatologist. Payment may be made in cash or by credit card, and a flexible payment plan can be arranged with the financial coordinator. If you need to cancel or expect to be late, please phone the office as early as you can.
Care is customized to each patient, with attention to the patient's concerns and history. The practice describes its goal as personalized medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatological care.
The practice describes both suites as modern, bright and designed for patient comfort and safety, with a warm and friendly feel from arrival through completion of treatment.
