Dark Tresses is open Wednesday and Thursday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, Friday from 9 AM to 6:30 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, and is closed Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. The menu covers color, extensions, cuts, styling, frizz and scalp treatments, makeup, brow and bang work and facial waxing.

About

New color guests need a free 25-minute consultation before any blonding or color service. The visit covers looking through photos, colors and cuts, or advice on hair health. Perms also begin with a consultation. Extension clients have a similar free 25-minute appointment that covers hair goals, daily lifestyle, upkeep, the install method, color matching and at-home care. Extension options include I-Tip, K-Tip, weft, tape-in and clip-in. Hair for installs is not included in the service price and is bought separately after the consultation. I-Tip, K-Tip and weft installs need maintenance every four to six weeks, and tape-ins need removal and re-taping on the same schedule. K-Tip extensions are bonded with keratin and last about four to six months with proper care.

Dread work is sized by the number of extensions: accent installs use up to about ten, partial dreads run from roughly ten to twenty-five, and full dreads cover twenty-five to sixty or more. A $50 deposit is required for full dread installs. Glam makeup and special event hair and makeup require deposits as well, and clients bringing their own contacts or prosthetics for Halloween makeup should plan for that.

Booking terms: a nonrefundable 40% fee applies to no-call, no-show and cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment, and rescheduling inside 24 hours counts as a cancellation. In-person Buy Now, Pay Later is available for bookings from $50 to $4,000 and needs approval before the appointment. Curl and straighten services require clean, fully dry hair, otherwise the visit is changed to a blow out with a curl or straighten add-on.

Each new color client and every extension client starts with a free consultation, so the plan is set before any service begins.
