About

April Mackay, the owner, has more than 20 years of experience in hair and has spent 15 years as an educator, travelling to several states to teach hairstyling. Color is a major focus at the studio, including blonding, highlights, fashion colors, balayage, lived-in color and vivid shades. A color consultation is required before new color services. Any lightening on hair that has been previously colored, box-colored or chemically treated requires a strand test, which costs $30 and must be booked first. Color correction begins with an in-person consultation, and timing can vary.

Extension work includes tape-ins, micro-beads and keratin I-tips, matched to the client's color, along with hair weft and hand-tied options. Extensions are charged by the hour and the hair is not included. Keratin services include a Coppola Brazilian Blowout treatment that reduces frizz and curl and adds shine, taking about three hours, as well as a semi-permanent keratin blowout. Perms and spiral perms are also offered.

For events, the studio offers special occasion packages that combine hair and makeup, mobile hairstyling and makeup for occasions away from the studio, and bridal hair and makeup with trial sessions. Kids beauty parties suit up to six girls ages 3 to 8 and run about four hours with hairstyling, glitter makeup and gift bags, with pricing based on group size and requests. Wedding bookings require a non-refundable $200 retainer that holds the date. Individual beauty reservations carry a separate, non-refundable $50 per-person consultation fee that is not part of service costs.

The studio also works with other professionals. It runs training programs for stylists in color techniques, hair extensions, and business and marketing skills, hosts events and workshops for beauty professionals and clients, and rents studio chairs and private rooms.
