Curls By September

Curls By September, based in Bartlett, Tennessee, has been in operation since 2009. Its clients come from Memphis, Cordova, Germantown, Bartlett, Arlington, Lakeland, Collierville, Millington, Olive Branch and Southaven, as well as across West Tennessee, with some travelling in from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Appointments are required, and walk-ins are not accepted. To book, clients text a current photo of their hair to (901) 283-6923. New clients are asked to bring an inspiration photo to their first visit. The salon is accepting new clients but does not work with every curl type.

A curly haircut appointment runs two to three hours. Each visit starts with a clarifying detox shampoo and deep hydration, followed by a customized haircut done dry to suit the client's curl pattern, texture, and daily routine. The visit also includes a curl styling lesson, product recommendations, and one-on-one education so clients can care for and style their curls at home.

The salon uses Innersense Organic Beauty products exclusively, which the site describes as certified organic, gluten free, cruelty-free, and free of harsh sulfates and silicones. The salon does not use DevaCurl products.

Each appointment is built around the individual client's curl pattern, with dry cutting and home-care teaching as core parts of the visit.
