The studio is owned and run by Kirsten Buckalew, who worked with clients in Newport News before opening her own space in Chesapeake. The room is small and cozy, which suits clients who want a quieter, more personal visit.
Each appointment is built around the individual. Kirsten gives every client her full attention and shapes a plan around their curls and what they want from their hair. Visits can include hands-on guidance on cleansing and styling that fits each client's daily routine.
The menu covers haircuts, color, extensions, styling and treatments. First-time clients start with a longer new-client visit, and most other services are reserved for existing clients, so the first appointment comes before anything else.
Booking works by request. Requests are reviewed and approved before they are confirmed, and new-client forms must be completed within 48 hours of submitting the request or the request is denied automatically. Changes need at least 24 hours of notice to avoid a fee of 50% of the service cost, and no-shows or arrivals more than 10 minutes late are charged the same fee. Cancellations, reschedules and late notices are sent by text.
