Curls By Ashayla focuses on cutting and caring for curly hair, with two locations: one at Bay Street in Emeryville and one on Alhambra Court in San Francisco. The San Francisco location is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday.

A first visit is a New Curly Cut, priced at $200 and taking about an hour. It begins with a consultation, then a customized dry cut, cleansing, hydration and definition, a dry time, a final refinement and aftercare tips. Clients who last came in within four months, and whose previous curly cut was done at this salon, can book an Express Curly Maintenance: a dry trim without styling, about 45 minutes, for $85. Only one express cut can be booked between full-service cuts.

Shorter hair is covered by the Short Curly Cut, which is $110 and takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. It is a curly cut followed by a Curl Transformation and is designed for hair cut above ear length. Face Framing, or bang trim, is a 15-minute service at $35, and the Curl Transformation can also be booked on its own for $95.

Treatments include the Hair Detox Treatment at $10, which uses Innersense products to remove impurities, excess oil and product build-up, and a $10 Scalp Treatment add-on that exfoliates the scalp and includes a massage using Innersense products with Himalayan pink salt, apple fruit extract and bamboo powder. The salon calls the scalp treatment acclaimed. The K-18 Treatment, $50, is a bonding treatment meant to repair hair, which the salon describes as innovative. Detangling starts at $75 per hour and must be booked after a complimentary consultation.
