Counter Culture Esthetics Phoenix

Counter Culture Esthetics was established in 2017 as a creative, artistic beauty space. It runs as a single-station skin studio in the Historic Grand Avenue District of downtown Phoenix, and the studio describes itself as an alternative to white-walled, cookie-cutter spas.

The studio specializes in ethnic and aging skin types and works with organic and naturally derived ingredients. Its client list includes melanin-rich skin, aging skin, thick beards, speckled and spotted skin, tattooed clients, and large-bodied clients, among others.

The signature starting point is the First Timer Facial, which is split evenly between a consultation and a mini facial. It includes a full skin analysis, professional product recommendations, and samples of professional-grade products. Signature Series Facials are also offered, along with waxing.

Product lines include Skin Script Rx Professional Skincare, a locally owned professional-strength line, and R. Drew Naturals, a small-batch, organic, all-natural line. Products can be bought in store on Saturdays, ordered for shipping for a $7 fee, or picked up, couriered locally, or sent by USPS from the online store.

In 2020 the studio partnered with vic's natural hairstylz to add natural hair care. After an appointment, clients can look at art, visit neighboring businesses, or listen to records.
