Cortney Kay Studio is a Needham salon founded by Cortney Peck after years working in high-end salons, including one on Newbury Street in Boston. Color is the core of the work, with balayage at the center.

Services are offered by appointment, Tuesday through Saturday. The menu covers single process color, face frame highlights, partial and full highlight or balayage, haircuts, blowouts, a treatment, and hand-tied extension installs and move-ups. Extension hair is custom ordered for each client, so its price is quoted at consultation and is separate from the install fee.

A consultation costs $50 and that amount is credited toward services booked. A blowout is required after every color service, and clients may not blow dry their own hair at the salon. Additional color is charged when it is needed.

Booking is by phone or text, with your name, the service you want and a preferred date and time. Because of a waitlist, the salon asks for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations inside 24 hours are charged half the service price, and no-shows are charged the full price.

The salon says it selects what it considers the most advanced, top-rated and high-performing hair products available.
