The name comes from a Spanish phrase meaning the heart of the valley. The resort's California Craftsman-style architecture was designed by Backen & Gillam, and the interiors were designed by Chhada, Siembieda/Remedios. The golf course has 18 holes, par 72, measures 7,360 yards and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. It has bent grass greens and Augusta white-sand bunkers. The course has hosted the Fry's.com Open on the PGA Tour from 2010 to 2013, the PGA Cup in 2011 and 2015, and the U.S. Women's Open in 2016. The site lists the course at No. 7 in California on Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play and at No. 52 among all U.S. resort courses. A round of 18 holes with a cart is $525 per player and includes driving range access and a GPS cart. Caddies are available for an extra fee.

Apart from golf, guests can book the spa, which offers massage, skin and body care, facials, and aromatherapy that draws on herbs, minerals and essential oils from natural sources. The spa runs Wednesday through Sunday and includes a steam room, a sauna and a hot tub. The Tennis & Pickleball Center features four tournament tennis courts and eight pickleball courts, with lessons led by ATP and PPA players.

Access is limited to hotel guests and CordeValle members, and the resort fee covers the pool, fitness center, bikes, bocce ball, hiking trails, the kids' program, valet parking and EV charging. The resort also has about 14,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, and its wedding venues can host up to 120 guests. Dining options include One Iron Bar, Lion's Peak Grill and Il Vigneto, and guests can also book wine tastings at the estate winery and local wineries.
