City & Shore Studios was co-created by Erin Ahern and Caitlin Carnahan and operates from two studios: one in Winnetka and one in Chicago's West Town.

Everything is booked by appointment and takes place in private studios rather than an open salon floor, so each visit is quiet and personal. Every color service begins with a personalized consultation, and color work ranges from subtle refreshes to complete transformations.

The team includes stylists and colorists who offer haircuts and styling, bridal and special event styling, extensions using a variety of techniques, and keratin straightening treatments, with many of them offering each of these. The salon describes its blowouts as long-lasting and says its stylists bring decades of experience in cutting.

Color work is planned around a personalized consultation rather than a fixed formula.
