Cinta Salon has been on Grant Avenue for about 20 years and was renovated in recent years. Cinta Gibbons owns the salon and works as a stylist, with more than twenty years in the business. The salon cites Allure's 2009 Best of the Best list, Elle's 2015 list of America's top 100 salons (where it was the only San Francisco salon), and a 7x7 ranking that named it San Francisco's best salon. It also describes itself as award-winning and as San Francisco's best hair salon, citing Allure.

Stylists work at three levels: Senior Stylist, Mentor and Lead Mentor, and prices for color and highlight services rise with each level. Color starts at $145, and highlight and balayage services start from about $165 for surface work up to $290 for full balayage, depending on the stylist. Lead Mentors do not offer creative color, bleach and tone, perm, specialty blonding or the blow-dry add-on, with Irina Chuyko as the exception. Smoothing treatments and specialty color services are priced and timed at a consultation with a Senior Stylist.

A color or highlight appointment with a haircut is booked with the color first, followed by the haircut. Allow 45 minutes of processing time between color appointments and 60 minutes for highlights. Customized hair treatments can be added to any service to add moisture and protein without extra appointment time. Threading, brow shaping and waxing are also offered, according to press features, and barbering services are available.

Hair models can book two slots a week, on Wednesdays at 10 am and 12 pm, by calling or texting the salon. Haircut and color services are discounted for models, and styling including shampoo and blow-dry is free. Home color kits are mixed by a stylist from the client's exact formula and mailed the same day, with requests by phone or by text Tuesday to Friday; kits should be used within 24 hours of receipt. Gift certificates can be bought at the front desk. The salon is open Tuesday through Saturday, with Wednesday hours running to 7 pm and other days to 6 pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday.

Training and mentoring are central to the salon, with stylists working at several levels from Senior Stylist to Lead Mentor.

A second-floor room with 18-foot windows, warm lighting and an open floor where clients and stylists choose their own areas.
