Carolinas Skin Center is located in an office suite on Pineville Matthews Road in south Charlotte. The practice concentrates exclusively on surgery of the skin and soft tissue, bringing dermatology and plastic surgery together. Conditions it lists as treated or managed include skin cancer, precancerous lesions, benign and atypical moles, abnormal scars, cysts, lipomas, hemangiomas, rosacea, psoriasis and acne.
The practice was founded by Dr. David J Nowicky, who set it up to provide care for patients. Its lead physician, David Nowicky, practiced as a plastic surgeon for nearly 20 years before focusing on dermatologic and skin plastic surgery. The practice says its approach is designed to differ from traditional practices, and that it looks at each patient's individual biology and treats the whole person.
No referral or specific diagnosis is needed before a visit, and patients can call the office directly. Rashes and eczema begin with a consultation with the physicians to reach a diagnosis and plan treatment, with options depending on location and severity. Most procedures and surgeries take place in the office, and reconstructions are usually done in the office and procedure rooms.
Surgical services include shave, punch, incisional and excisional biopsies, skin cancer excision and Mohs surgery, and wound repair by primary suture closure, skin grafts or flap reconstruction. Office hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 9am to 12pm. Staff speaks Spanish.
Cosmetic surgery fees are payable in advance by cash, personal check or credit card. Credit card payments carry a 2.5% convenience fee, and returned checks carry a $35 fee. VISA and MasterCard are accepted, and CareCredit financing with payment plans is available. The practice accepts a listed set of medical insurance plans, and patients are asked to call to confirm their plan is accepted.
Focuses on surgery of the skin and soft tissue, aiming for minimal visible scarring and attention to each patient's individual biology.
The practice is set up to be warm and comfortable, and describes its facility as modern and peaceful.
