The building opened in 1929 as a garage for the El Mirador hotel and most recently housed one of the city's largest galleries. brush occupies a glass atelier inside it, and it is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9AM to 5PM.

The salon was created as a one-seat format, which the salon describes as offering a more personal experience and standing alone in private concierge hair care in the Coachella Valley. Clients sit in soft leather styling chairs that face the San Jacinto mountains and North Palm Canyon Drive, and during a visit they can choose from a small selection of coffees, teas, wines, beers and whiskey.

The menu is organized by quarter, partial and full head for balayage, foiliage and highlights, with the color and blonding work including a gloss on mids and ends and bond-reinforcing treatment as needed. Haircuts range from a bang trim at $30 to a women's cut at $120, which includes a blow dry style. Men's services include a $80 haircut with a scalp and shoulder massage and grooming products, a $40 beard trim, and a $45 grey blending service that takes about 15 minutes. A 30-minute consultation is offered for planning color and cut, and new guests who book a bang trim pay $25 with a consultation, while existing guests receive bang trims at no charge.
