Bronze & Ember

Bronze & Ember opened in 2025 as a hair studio in Oakland. The studio describes itself as a welcoming, relaxed space for people from all walks of life, and it calls itself a sanctuary for its clients. Bookings and checkout run through Square, and the studio is open Wednesday through Saturday.

Pricing is set by the hour, with no gratuity expected and no hidden fees. The menu is deliberately short and covers two areas: haircuts and color services. Each listed service states its length, so clients know what their appointment time covers before they book.

For cuts, the one-hour haircut includes a shampoo and blow-dry. The 1.5-hour haircut is meant for long, very curly or thick hair, or for cuts that need more time; it can include an added treatment or a curling iron style, and it is recommended for first-time curly clients. A 30-minute express cut is available to existing clients only, done on dry hair with no shampoo or blow-dry. First-time clients who book that express cut are moved to a full hour.

Custom color is built around the appointment length. A 1.5-hour session covers a root touch-up with a gloss or a gloss and trim, and includes a blow-dry. A 2-hour session covers a root color with an all-over gloss and treatment, often with time for a haircut. A 4-hour custom color or lightening service is for larger transformations and requires a consultation first.

Some policies are worth knowing before booking. Appointments moved within 48 hours of the original time carry a 50% fee, payable before a new booking is made. A no-call, no-show means the full appointment value is due before rebooking. Clients more than 15 minutes late may need to reschedule, since there may not be time for a complete service. Extra guests and children are not allowed without prior approval because of limited space, and minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Clients who feel unwell or have been around illness are asked to let the studio know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.
