Be Okay Braids began as Be Okay Hair, started from a campus apartment while Kasmine was a university student. The business was rebranded as Be Okay Braids in 2019, and BraidScape was developed over more than five years before its product line launched.

Appointments take place on the second floor of Mattison Salon Suites, behind Chipotle. Clients who are unsure what they need can book a consultation first. Hair is included in braiding prices, and clients name their braid color when booking. Service times are estimates, and the work is not rushed. Services longer than four hours ask clients to arrive well rested, and a session can be paused and rescheduled if drowsiness gets in the way.

The BraidScape line covers hair and body care, with a Luminous Hair Oil, a Tri-Stem shampoo and conditioner, a face and body microdermabrasion scrub, and an almond lotion. Listed prices run from $24.99 for the hair oil to $44.99 for the scrub, and kits and bundles range from $57.99 to $137.99. The products are described as all natural, ethically sourced, cruelty-free and made with men in mind, for scalp and beard care. Customer reviews on the site focus on the hair oil and the shampoo and conditioner.

The business says it is trusted by athletes and professionals. The About page names clients including a Grammy-nominated artist, a Super Bowl champion, players from more than 12 NFL teams, FC Dallas members and gaming influencers including OpTic Gaming.

Deposits are required and are non-refundable. Cancellations and reschedules need 24 hours notice. Same-day cancellations, no-shows and late cancellations are charged in full. For Deluxe services, hair should be washed, blown dry and product-free, and at least 3 inches long all around, 24 to 48 hours before the appointment. Saturday appointments are reserved for men. Children under 10 are not permitted in the salon, and a $75 fee applies to them.
