Braidsart

Braidsart is a home-based design studio in Houston, founded in 2016 by Bettsy Marquez, who works as a hairstylist alongside two other team members. It operates by appointment from a private residence near FM-1960 and T C Jester Blvd, and the exact address is sent once a booking is confirmed or a deposit is paid. Studio hours are listed as Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday to Sunday, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Bridal work is at the center of the business. Hairstyling is offered for brides, bridesmaids, party guests and flower girls, and every bride books a trial before the wedding; each trial covers one hairstyle and one guest. The bride package includes pinning the headpiece and veil, and bridesmaid and flower girl services include applying a client's own hair extensions, all at no added cost. Bridal hair can be booked up to seven months ahead. The studio does not bring in outside stylists for larger parties and instead uses stylists trained by the founder. Makeup is not provided, but the studio can recommend makeup artists it has worked with.

Bride hairstyling is $350, and a second look is also $350. Bridesmaids and party guests are $200 each, and flower girls are $100 for children eight and under. Short hair and waves carry the same fee regardless of style, though waves and curls usually take longer because the hair is prepped, given volume and thermally styled. Early starts before 8:00 AM are charged by the hour, from $50 for 7:00 to 7:59 AM up to $250 for 3:00 to 3:59 AM. There is a $100 holiday fee for federal holidays and a $200 fee for each additional artist. Travel fees range from $70 for Spring and The Woodlands up to $100 for Galveston and nearby towns. Austin and San Antonio bookings cost $500 plus hotel stay, and Dallas bookings cost $600 plus hotel stay, each with a $1,200 minimum. Weekend bookings need at least $300 in services.

Booking takes a $30 deposit per person, which is deducted from the total, and no date is held without it. The remaining balance is due on the day by Venmo, Zelle or cash; checks are not accepted. Gratuity is not included and is left to the client. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Cancelling more than 30 days before the appointment means the deposit is kept and no balance is owed; shorter notice is charged more under the studio's policy. Changing a wedding or event date requires a new deposit and depends on the new date being free.

The studio also makes and sells handcrafted headpieces, including clips and combs, hair vines, hair pins, tiaras and crowns, and headbands, along with casual headpieces, jewelry sets and earrings. Try-On Appointments let clients view and try on headpieces in person, and stylists can help match a headpiece to a hairstyle, including from an inspiration photo.
