Blue Nomad was started by Onyedikachi, whose earlier work included venture capital and startup roles. Before the studio opened, the founder worked as a licensed skin therapist, giving facials during residencies at Dermalogica in SoHo and at the Four Seasons in Tribeca. Brooklyn architect Silvana Vergara Tobin collaborated on the design of the studio space.
The studio describes its outlook as a conceptual approach to wellness that is inclusive and globally inspired, and it treats skin health as a marker of overall well-being. Its signature offering is Facial ST, a 60-minute facial that combines advanced technology with traditional massage techniques and is customized to each client, with work ranging from acne care to well-aging. The LED SkinBoost is a 30-minute express option pairing LED light therapy with hydration and a power cleanse. A 30-minute Skin Consult is also available, and a Skin Diagnostic can be completed online for a short review of skin type, current care and concerns.
A membership is available at $185 per month before tax. It includes a monthly 60-minute Facial ST, on-demand skin health guidance, member pricing on products and additional treatments, complimentary shipping on orders, monthly community wellness perks, and a complimentary LED SkinBoost between sessions. Members book Member Facial ST at a member rate. Memberships can be cancelled at any time after the first three months, and new membership inquiries go to the studio's memberships email address.
The retail shop carries face, lip, body and hand care, essential oils, candles and scents, and supplements from several brands. Items can be picked up in the studio or delivered within NYC, with delivery free on orders over $150. Some products are HSA or FSA eligible when recommended as part of the studio's Skin Health Program. Gift cards are sold in set amounts or a custom amount and can be delivered by email or text. The brand also publishes Nomad's Land, a journal covering skin, scent and body, culture, and people and community.
Facial treatments are built for each client and change with the seasons, paired with curated local and international brands. According to the studio, each product is personally tested and each protocol is crafted for the individual.
