Blades Styling is owned by Taylor Blades, who works as a Natural Beaded Row artist and has been a stylist for eleven years. The salon's extension work centers on Natural Beaded Row (NBR) hand tied extensions, which are installed with no glue or tape. The salon says NBR extensions hide better, do less damage, and stay in place.

Booking starts with an application, followed by a 15 to 20 minute phone consultation with the salon owner to discuss a quote, the number of rows needed, and length. A second consultation takes place with the stylist on the day of the appointment. Scheduling an extension appointment requires a $500 deposit, which is applied to the balance. If a client cannot keep an appointment, the deposit goes toward a future one.

Hand tied extensions are designed for women with fine, thin hair that does not grow much past the collarbone. First-time extension clients start at $1,500, and most first-time clients spend between $1,500 and $3,900, since pricing varies with the level of stylist. The first visit covers the extensions, a full color transformation, custom coloring of the extensions, installation, custom cutting, a photoshoot, and a care bag. Returning clients are retightened every 6 to 8 weeks and replace extensions every 6 to 12 months, with a typical tighten and color touch-up ranging from $300 to $800.

Blonding and luxury color are sold as packages, and the salon provides a customized quote for each upcoming appointment. Blonding uses high performance lightening products with the Olaplex bond-building system, and glazes are customized to the tone the client wants. Blonding and luxury color both include a head massage from the artist. Hand tied extensions and color require scheduled maintenance and professional products, and recommendations are reviewed during consultations and appointments. Guests are offered a drink or snack and Wi-Fi during their visit.
