Before an appointment, guests receive a text with a digital form to choose essential oils, a beverage, and whether they would like a relaxing or energetic atmosphere. The menu covers haircuts for all hair types, textures and identities, a Signature Haircut at $140, lived-in cuts and color designed to grow out with little upkeep, and three color packages that each include a trim. Smoothing and perming treatments are available, along with the Pura Luxe Amino Acid Treatment at $425, which the salon says uses 18 amino acids, including cysteine, and contains no formaldehyde. Hair extensions are offered with tape-in, sew-in and micro-link methods, priced from $150 to $1,500. The salon runs a cosmetology apprenticeship in which apprentices work in the salon while completing state-required training. Pre-apprenticeship training is 39 hours at $2,500, and hands-on and theory classes run 220 to 260 hours at $2,800, with a $1,000 deposit after acceptance and a 5% discount for paying the full fee up front. Apprentices train in person at the salon up to 8 hours a week. The salon says its trainers are State Board certified. Be Infinite, a separate nonprofit apprenticeship program founded in 2022, pays apprentices a living wage with benefits during training. Apprentice Day offers single process color, a haircut and blow dry, a wash and set blowout, and a silk press, each at $55. These appointments are educational and run longer than standard visits, so guests should plan for the full time. Booking one means agreeing to possible photo or video capture for education and marketing. Guests under 18 need parental consent and educator approval, though 18 and over is preferred. The salon says it diverts over 95% of its waste from landfills, invests in reforestation and anti-deforestation efforts, and aims for a net negative carbon footprint. It holds a Certified Sustainable Salon designation and states it was voted Best of Oakland (Top 5) for 2023 through 2025 by Oakland Magazine.
