About

The studio opened in Albany in 2021. Co-owners Angela Martinucci and Carleigh Rochon founded it to bring the wellness technologies they chose to a local audience at prices they describe as affordable. The spa says it has delivered more than 32,000 sessions and reports a 5.0 rating across 117 Google reviews.

Nervous system regulation is described as the foundation of the services. Neurofeedback is the core offering, using NeurOptimal, an EEG-based system with non-invasive sensors that give real-time audio feedback. The spa describes neurofeedback as a form of biofeedback. A session runs about 33 minutes, and the spa suggests booking 45 minutes end to end. Sessions welcome all ages. Neurofeedback is not covered by insurance, though HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

Lymphatic drainage massage is touchless and uses a compression system: a suit for the lower body and a jacket for the upper body. Half body sessions are 40 minutes. A full body session is 60 minutes, with 40 minutes in the pants and 20 in the jacket. Clients keep their clothing on, and the spa suggests comfortable clothes and water before and after. The BoaMax 2 compression station can be booked for two people, and the Brain Spa Favorite for Two package shares it for 90 minutes. The spa does not offer manual lymphatic drainage and refers clients for that to Emily Butts.

Red light sessions use red and near-infrared wavelengths and typically run 10 to 20 minutes. Options include lay-down and standing stations with a vibration plate, a LightStim facial, Vielight, a Neuronic red light helmet that is included with neurofeedback, and transcranial brain light therapy. High-intensity PEMF is offered as a 20-minute fully clothed session for pain relief. Express add-ons include a BioCharger, a hot gemstone PEMF mat, a hydro massage waterbed, a dry salt booth, a RollStar lymphatic roller, Migun acupressure, Avacen thermotherapy, AmpCoil sessions and NanoVi cellular repair. The spa calls these biohacking tools built on non-invasive wellness technology.

Visits are by appointment only, and walk-ins are not accepted. Clients can book online, or by phone or text at 510-338-4645. Online booking opens 14 days ahead, and members can book 30 days ahead. The space is scent-free, so clients are asked to skip perfume, scented lotion, hair products and scented laundry. Shoes come off or are covered on arrival, and socks are provided. Parking is on the street, with some free 90-minute and untimed spots about a block away.

Brain Spa membership costs $100 a month, includes 20% off regularly priced services (not packages, specials or products), and brings neurofeedback to $50 per session. It carries a 3-month minimum, renews monthly, and credits roll over for 90 days. Spa parties for 4 to 12 people are priced at $150 per person and booked by arrangement, for birthdays, girls' nights, team events and self-care days. Kids Club neurofeedback runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and a parent must stay in the room unless a child is approved for drop-off. Take-home neurofeedback rental systems are also available for families.

Built on nervous system regulation as the foundation, supported alongside lymphatic and cellular work, using non-invasive technologies the spa describes as biohacking tools.

A scent-free space where clients leave their shoes at the door and are given socks if needed.
