bare facials has been operating since 2003 from its Belmont Street location in southeast Portland. Heidi, the owner, works as the aesthetician and handles the treatments herself, so each visit is with the person who runs the studio.
Every facial is built around the individual client's skin. Treatments combine natural and cosmeceutical products, and Heidi makes her own skincare formulations, choosing ingredients to suit each client and advising on which products at home will work with their skin.
A typical visit starts with a skin analysis and, where it applies, a barrier test. From there the treatment is shaped to the client: extractions, a customized exfoliation, a targeted treatment such as a peel or oxygen therapy, and a massage, with a calming finish. Acne-focused and anti-aging sessions follow the same customized method with their own combinations of steps.
Clients appear to come for a mix of concerns, from clogged pores and acne to signs of aging, and the menu covers a range of depths, from a single extraction session to more involved treatments. Booking is done through a request form on the website, after which Heidi reaches out to schedule.
Each facial is customized to the client's skin, with Heidi formulating her own products and matching ingredients to individual needs.
