Bare Canvas Electrolysis was founded by LaTosha, a licensed electrologist, and operates from a suite in the Tinley Park Beauty and Wellness Suites at 6851 167th Street. The studio describes its mission as delivering safe, effective permanent hair removal in a welcoming, inclusive space, and says it serves women, men, first-time clients and the transgender community.
Electrolysis works by passing a controlled current through a fine probe into each hair follicle, one hair at a time. Because hair grows in cycles, the studio notes that several sessions are typically needed. According to the studio, treatment suits every skin tone and hair type, including blonde, gray, white, red and hormonally stimulated hair. Clients can have the chin, jawline, upper lip, eyebrows, neck, sideburns, chest, abdomen, bikini area and genitals treated. The studio also offers galvanic skin care, which it describes as a gentle chemical process that destroys tough hair roots. The studio states that electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal and that the American Medical Association recognizes it as effective. These are the studio's own claims.
A visit begins with a complimentary 30-minute, no-obligation consultation where a personalized plan for PCOS, hormones or surgery is discussed. A sample session can be done together with the consultation. Sessions are priced by length: 15 minutes for $45, 30 minutes for $75, 45 minutes for $110, 60 minutes for $140, 75 minutes for $165 and 90 minutes for $190, each per session.
Hours are Monday 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 am to 8 pm, and Wednesday noon to 8 pm, with Saturdays and Sundays by appointment only. Before treatment, clients are asked to stop shaving three days ahead, drink plenty of water, arrive with clean, exfoliated skin, avoid skin oils and skip retinoids. Afterwards, clients are advised not to touch or pick at treated skin, to use a cold pack for swelling, and to avoid swimming, hot tubs and steam rooms for 48 hours.
Cancellations or reschedules need at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations incur a 50% fee of the reserved service, and no-shows are charged the full scheduled service. Cancelling a free consultation on short notice costs $25. A valid credit card must be kept on file for reservations, and fees are charged automatically. Booking deposits are refunded only when a session is cancelled or moved at least 24 hours ahead, and completed treatments are not refunded. Concerns about skin healing or results should be raised within 48 hours.
The studio aims for permanent hair removal in a comfortable, inclusive setting, treating each hair individually across a series of sessions.
The studio describes its space as welcoming and inclusive.
