Liz, the owner and licensed esthetician, created Bare by Liz as a private studio in Bankers Hill. Her focus is Brazilian and intimate waxing, and the studio also covers body and face hair removal, with services priced by area.

The studio aims for every client to feel welcomed, respected and not judged, and comfortable during the appointment. Liz welcomes first-time waxing clients as well as long-time regulars.

Appointments are held Tuesday through Thursday from 4:30 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, and the studio is closed Monday, Friday and Sunday. Cancellations or reschedules need at least 24 hours notice, late cancellations and no-shows may be charged the full service price, and clients arriving more than 10 minutes late may be rescheduled. All sales are final, and the studio says it will address concerns about results. Cash, credit card, Apple Pay, Venmo and Zelle are accepted.

Clients are asked to let hair grow to about a quarter inch before a wax and to avoid shaving between waxes; if they have been shaving, hair should grow for at least two weeks first. Waxing is suggested every four to six weeks, and according to the studio most clients stay smooth for about three to four weeks, though growth varies. Skin should be clean and free of lotions, oils and heavy products, and exfoliating should be avoided right before a wax and then resumed gently a few times a week after about 48 hours. Clients may wax during their period, and for Brazilian appointments a tampon or menstrual cup should be worn during the service. Medications and active skincare products should be disclosed when booking. Clients 18 and older are welcome, and bikini line waxing is available at 15 with a parent or guardian present. Brazilian and intimate waxing is offered to female clients only.

Each service is meant to be thorough and gentle, with attention to what each client needs, in a setting where clients should feel welcome and not judged.
