Bare Beauty works out of a studio on SE Ash Street between 6th Street and Grand Avenue, about two blocks from Burnside, and serves clients across Southeast Portland. Kara O'Connor bought the business in 2016, and it now brings together several independent estheticians, each running their own part of the menu.

Services are open to all bodies, regardless of size, color, gender or sexual identity. The studio is meant to feel warm and welcoming, and the business says everyone is invited to book.

Waxing begins with a short consultation, and the wax is chosen for each client's skin and hair type. After booking, clients receive an email with client portal and intake form instructions. A credit card is kept on file for every appointment, and services over $200 require a deposit. Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled online at no charge up to 24 hours ahead.

The studio is down the hallway, second door on the right after the building entrance. The main door is a large wood-framed glass door with a keypad, and the code is sent in the confirmation email. J&M Cafe is in the same building. Street parking nearby is limited and the lot at the base of the building is for permit holders, so several garages a short walk away are the practical option.

The menu covers Brazilian waxing, brow lamination, lash lifts and extensions, facials with dermaplaning, LED light and hydrojelly add-ons, and body treatments for ingrown hairs, rough skin and dryness. Velvet Fuzz, an essential-oil after-wax product made with the company Delas, is sold at the studio.

Aims to move away from traditional and harmful beauty standards so that confidence comes from within, and treats every gender and body as valued.
