The school runs two training tracks. Cosmetology takes 1500 hours and teaches braiding, cutting, styling, skin care and client service, and graduates prepare for the state board's licensing process. Professional Barbering is a 1200-hour course that can be finished in about 7.5 months. Students learn cuts for both men and women, color and lightening, chemical texturizing, shaving, beard and facial hair shaping, and facial massage and skin treatments. The course prepares students for the Maryland State Board exam and for jobs in barbershops or beauty salons. Students can attend full-time or part-time. Day classes begin on the first Monday of each month, and evening classes begin on the first Tuesday evening of each month.

Instruction follows the Milady curriculum, using textbooks, workbooks, step-by-step videos and DVDs. Students combine theory lectures with hands-on practice on mannequins and on actual clients. The barbering program also brings in outside professionals for demonstrations from time to time. Career preparation includes guidance on entering a salon or barbershop, resume development, interviewing skills, and mock state board licensing applications. The school says its instructors have helped thousands of students pass state board exams and start working.

Clients can book salon and barber services, and the school offers a free consultation for new clients. Existing clients can book their next service online. Prices depend on hair length, texture and density and may change at the school's discretion. Senior clients receive a 10% discount on selected services. Color services require a patch test with no exceptions, and chemical services include basic style only. The school describes its salon and barber services as premier.

Entrance requires a personal interview and school visit, a high school diploma or GED, and a sufficient understanding of English. Applicants must be US citizens or hold a recognized visa, and must be 17 years old at examination or licensure. Financial aid is available to those who qualify, including grants, loans, scholarships and in-house payment plans. Federal aid is applied for through the FAFSA using school code 016627, and listed options include Pell Grants, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, and Direct PLUS Loans for parents of dependent students.

Classroom theory is paired with hands-on practice on mannequins and real clients, and students are prepared for both state licensing and employment.
