About

Alana Lucia founded Baddies in 2017 as a hair salon and barbershop in Greenpoint. The salon sits inside the Pencil Factory building, where visitors are buzzed in at the door. The salon says it values inclusivity, comfort, community, queer liberation and self-love.

Haircuts are booked through the Book Cut option on the website, and color appointments through Book for Color. Consultations can be arranged in person before a haircut or handled by email. Some staff members offer beard trims, while straight razor face shaves are not currently offered. Hours run Tuesday to Thursday from 12 to 8, Friday from 11 to 7 and Saturday from 10 to 6, with the salon closed on Sundays and Mondays. Wheelchair access to the building is available weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm, and the salon is working with its landlords toward around-the-clock access. The restrooms on the salon's floor are single-sex, and a gender-neutral restroom is on the 6th floor.

The salon is closing. Alana Lucia and Janet Konz continue cutting hair at The Best Little Hair House in Brooklyn, and Alana also works at Mildred in the LES. The salon also sells branded merchandise, including sweatshirts, hats, tote bags, crop tops and stickers.

According to the salon, its philosophy centers on inclusivity, comfort, community, queer liberation and self-love.
