About

Awaken For Wellness was founded after Chris Richmond decided in 2010 to become a nationally certified massage therapist. Richmond had studied finance at Minnesota State, Mankato, and had worked in construction sales and management before that. Jesse joined in 2012 to help grow the business and expand what it offers.

The business describes its purpose as encouraging a wider health awakening through newer ways of healing, thinking and living well. It sees wellness as a balance shaped by food, daily routines and movement.

The Saint Paul location on St. Clair Ave offers float therapy, massage, infrared sauna, ONYX red light, cold plunge, the Optimization Room and OligoScan. The Woodbury location on Eagle Creek Ln offers salt therapy, infrared sauna, ONYX red light, cold plunge, the Optimization Room and OligoScan. One membership is valid at both locations, and gift cards can be redeemed at either.

Floats take place in private tanks filled with Epsom salt and about 10 inches of water warmed to skin temperature, in 60 or 90 minute sessions. Each float room is for one person, and sessions offer a choice of light or darkness and soft music at the end. First-time guests read and sign a waiver and watch a short introductory video, and the business recommends arriving 15 minutes early.

Infrared sauna sessions happen in a private cabin with full-spectrum heat. First-time sauna guests are advised to start with up to 30 minutes, and new clients are asked to arrive 10 minutes early. Salt therapy uses a halogenerator to disperse fine salt particles into a room, with separate adult and children's sessions at Woodbury. The Optimization Room combines PEMF, ONYX red light and a vibroacoustic sound bed in 30-minute sessions, and OligoScan is a non-invasive palm scan that measures minerals, trace elements and heavy metals with results emailed afterward.

The business grounds its services in scientific evidence, rejects fleeting trends, and asks whether each service works and is good for the person using it.

Sessions take place in private rooms, from float tanks and infrared cabins to a salt room and cold plunge area.
