Avellana Hair works from two salons: a downtown Kirkland location on Kirkland Avenue and a Fremont location on Evanston Avenue North in Seattle. The menu is organized around five groups: lived-in highlights and balayage, color, haircuts and maintenance, styling, and add-ons.

Lived-in highlights are a central part of the menu. Mini glow is a custom mini highlight or balayage meant for subtle brightness with little upkeep. Underlight partial lightens the underneath layer of the hair, and sunkissed partial adds brightness through the whole head, done either with foils or hand-painted balayage.

Color services include gloss color, a deposit-only tone and shine treatment that does not lighten, and root retouch, which covers up to 1.5 inches of regrowth with or without gray coverage. Pop of vivid color adds vivid tones to hair that has already been lightened. Only deep, dark or jewel shades are offered for this, such as dark pink, blue or purple; pastels and high-lift shades are not.

Haircuts and maintenance cover regular trims, mini trims for small areas and grown-out edges, a kids and teens cut for children aged five and up who can sit calmly, and dry reshapes for existing clients. Teens asking for a creative cut, a major change in length, or who have very long or thick hair are asked to book an adult haircut instead.

Styling includes a wash and blow dry with a scalp massage and special occasion curls, which are long-lasting curls or waves for formal events. Clients booking special occasion curls are asked to arrive with clean, fully dry hair, washed within 24 hours where possible, with no heavy oils and minimal product.

New color clients need an in-person consultation on a separate day before booking a color service, or they can complete the online Color Consultation Form. Returning clients changing their color can add notes to the appointment about the result they want. A free consultation of about five minutes is also available on request for questions about haircuts or color.

Booking policies: cancellations made within 24 hours of an appointment, and no-shows, are charged 50% of the scheduled services. There is a 20-minute grace period for late arrivals, after which some services may be dropped or the appointment rescheduled. Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days with a receipt, and specialty items must be unused and in original packaging.

The salon's add-ons and color services are built to be added to a visit, and a quiet appointment option is offered at no added charge for clients who prefer little conversation.
