Emily McKee founded Atlanta Hair Color Studio in 2019. Emily McKee founded Atlanta Hair Color Studio in 2019. She started studying cosmetology while still in high school in Alabama, later moved to Atlanta to advance her career, and now has more than twenty years in the professional beauty industry. She has also taught other hairstylists through educational classes and stage presentations.

Color is the core of the studio. Color appointments begin with a consultation in which a stylist explains the options, and the salon sets pricing from there. The service menu also covers haircuts (including Sassoon-trained cutting, Jaques Dessange French haircutting, men's cuts and the Curly Girl Method), deep conditioning and bonding, smoothing treatments from Cezanne, NKST and Brazilian Blowout that aim to reduce frizz, a hair loss treatment, styling for events, makeup and facial waxing.

According to the salon, it earned a 2021 Best Salon Colorist title from Atlanta Magazine, was recognized as the Best Beauty Salon by the Atlanta Awards Program in both 2022 and 2023, and was ranked the Top Salon in North Druid Hills by BusinessRate in 2025 and 2026. The salon describes its team as highly educated and says it works across a broad set of color, cutting and treatment methods suited to every hair type. The studio also sells a line of shampoos, conditioners and styling products, and offers deep conditioning and bonding as a salon treatment or as take-home products. Clients book with a non-refundable $50 deposit for new-client appointments, applied to the service on the day of the visit.
