Asterie Hair Collective is a Seattle salon operated as a collective. Each stylist works independently and runs a small business leasing a station in the salon, so clients choose the stylist whose work suits them. The salon is on Woodland Park Avenue North between Fremont and Wallingford.
The salon says its goal is to reflect each client's own beauty back to them, and that starts with learning how the client lives and what their routine looks like. It says it is committed to Aveda's sustainability values and to making a difference where it can, and that it follows beauty industry sanitation and safety guidelines. Clients are asked to stay home if they are sick or think they may be getting sick, and stylists may charge for appointments missed because of illness.
A haircut begins with a head massage using Aveda aroma oil, followed by a blow dry and styling as requested. Extra time may be needed for thick hair, complex styles, or cuts spaced six months or more apart. Color can cover roots or gray, lighten or deepen a tone, or change the whole head from roots to ends. Foils give brighter results but may need more frequent visits, while balayage gives a softer, sun-kissed look with less upkeep. Foil and balayage pricing depends on the amount of hair, the technique, and the lightness wanted. Creative color and extensions both require a consultation first.
Base starting prices are haircuts from $125, color from $200, foils from $250, balayage from $350, styling and shine treatments from $125, smoothing treatments from $225, extensions from $600, and bang frame and neck trims from $25. Prices vary by stylist, so clients should confirm with their stylist when booking.
Clients can ask for a consultation or email photos of a desired look along with their hair history before booking. New client requests are answered within 24 to 48 hours, as the salon has no front desk team, and the salon phone is an answering service, so changes to an appointment go directly to the stylist. The salon is open Monday through Saturday, roughly 11am to 7pm, with hours varying by stylist and day. Three covered parking spaces for clients sit just north of the salon, and street parking is also available, but clients should allow extra time due to nearby construction. Clients are asked to leave pets, children, and loud devices without headphones at home, and are advised not to book anything important directly after an appointment, since visits can run late.
The salon aims to reflect each client's beauty back to them, beginning with getting to know their lifestyle. It is committed to Aveda's sustainability values and follows beauty industry sanitation and safety guidelines.
Plants fill the room, giving the salon a green, botanical feel.
