Ashley Nelson Studios

Ashley Nelson Studios is a natural-based spa and boutique in downtown Overland Park, owned by Ashley Nelson, an esthetician and makeup artist. Alongside treatments, the boutique sells natural skin care and mineral-based makeup that is made in house. Independent providers rent space at the spa to offer massage, waxing, brow services and facials. The business has been featured in magazines including 303 Magazine, 435 Magazine, EA Bride Magazine, KC Weddings Magazine, VintageKC Magazine and Wedding Essentials. The salon describes its skincare treatments as award-winning.

Skin care is the core of the menu. Facials range from the Mini Facial at $65 (25 minutes, with a brow wax or tint) and the All-Inclusive Facial at $100 (40 minutes, with hydrodermabrasion, a brow wax and tint, and quick peels) to the Signature Spa Facial at $155 (1 hour 10 minutes, with an optional light peel at no charge). Other options include the Spa Retreat Package at $230, the Reiki Gemstone Facial at $230 with a Reiki gemstone card reading, and the Glass Skin Facial with PDRN at $300 (45 minutes). Monthly regulars who are reoccurring clients can book the PDRN facial for $150. A Kids Eucalyptus Spearmint Mini Facial at $35 (20 minutes) is also available.

Peels are a major focus. The Candied Apple and Pumpkin Peels are each $50 and take about 15 minutes. A skin consultation happens before peel services so the right peel can be chosen, and peels are usually recommended as a series of 6 to 8 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. The BioRe Peel ($250, 20 minutes) requires a facial booked 2 to 4 weeks beforehand to prepare the skin, and a Customized Chemical Peel is $45. Hydrodermabrasion is $70 for 25 minutes and includes a peel. Other treatments include Dermaplane at $45, the Emergency Zit Zap at $25 and an LED Treatment at $45, which includes a 20-minute session under a light panel. Clients are asked to avoid facial waxing for at least one week after a peel.

Waxing and brows cover brows, lip, chin, full face and other areas. Brow Wax with Tint is $35 and takes 30 minutes, and Full Face Wax is $60 and takes 40 minutes. Makeup services include a full face application with temporary individual lashes at $125 (45 minutes), temporary lashes alone at $20, and a makeup lesson at $150 (1 hour 15 minutes). Kid, tween and teen makeup lessons are free and take 30 minutes. For destination weddings, the spa offers facials and makeup for the bride and bridal party, with a $150 travel fee for destination services. The JoCo Glow Neck and Decollete Treatment is $45 and takes 5 minutes.

Memberships and rentals round out the offer. Six All-Inclusive Facials cost $500 for half a year, twelve All-Inclusive Facials cost $1,000 for a year, and twelve Signature Facials cost $1,550 for a year. Suite rent for independent providers is $150 for 30 minutes. Unopened products can be returned within 30 days with a receipt, free product samples are offered before buying, and gift certificates can be purchased online.
