Programs are built around state licensing. The cosmetology license program is an approved 1,000-hour course covering state laws and regulations, health and safety, infection control, hair and skin analysis, chemical services, facials, eyebrow shaping, makeup, manicure and pedicure, and nail enhancement, and it prepares students for the state board exam. The barbering license is a 1,000-hour program covering shaving, trimming, cutting and styling for all hair textures and men's grooming, and the Garden Grove page says it is taken after cosmetology. Esthetics is an approved 600-hour program, manicuring an approved 400-hour program, and nail technology an approved 600-hour program.
Garden Grove offers all five licensing programs in Korean and English. Tustin offers cosmetology and barbering in English. Licensed barbers and cosmetologists can enroll to earn both licenses, crossing from one field to the other.
At Garden Grove, the hair curriculum called The Comb covers haircutting, hair and scalp treatment, hair coloration, non-surgical hair replacement, haircut finishing, shears mechanics and hair diagramming, alongside general and business education. According to the school, it is the only comprehensive practical hands-on curriculum of its kind. Advanced education is available for licensed professionals.
Financial aid is available for qualifying students, along with flexible payment plans and scholarships for qualified applicants. The school publishes its catalog, a performance fact sheet for each location and BPPE annual reports, some of them in Korean. Student testimonials on the site describe students passing the state board exam, one on the first attempt. Business hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with the school closed on weekends.
The school focuses on practical, hands-on training meant to prepare graduates to start working, with each program tied to state licensing.
The school describes itself as a close-knit community where instructors and students can thrive.
