Stylists begin with a consultation and then combine technical skill with the client's goals, so the finished look is one that is practical to keep up at home. The salon says it uses the finest professional products available. Its services span cuts and finishings, color, perms and relaxers, and treatments with extensions, and the team includes master stylists, senior stylists and a balayage specialist.

Haircuts include a complimentary shampoo and blowout. Every service is sold individually, and prices for some services vary by stylist, so the services page is the place to check specifics. Extension work such as K-Tip, tape-in and removal is priced at consultation. Current listed prices start at $20 for a beard trim and $65 for a men's cut, and color and keratin services are quoted as ranges or starting prices.

Clients book by phone at (703) 683-0755 or by email at aquilanosalon@me.com. Clients are asked to hold a card on file to reserve, arrive five to ten minutes early to change into a robe or drape, and silence phones during visits, taking calls in a private spot. Cancellations made 48 hours ahead are requested; cancellations inside 48 hours are charged half the booked total, and same-day or 24-hour cancellations are charged in full. No-shows count as same-day cancellations, and a deposit is needed to book again. Children are not allowed in the salon area for safety reasons. The salon is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10 am to 8 pm, Friday 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday.
