Amore Hair Design started in 2016 as a small single studio in Plainville and now lists a team of six professionals. The salon describes itself as a boutique space meant to feel like a home away from home.

Hair services cover custom coloring, extensions and treatments. Color services include a blow-dry unless the stylist advises otherwise. The salon also offers facial waxing and makeup, and all brow services include a complimentary eyebrow mapping to shape the brows to the natural face.

Sew-in extensions are the preferred method, with wefts attached using beads and sewn in, without glue, tape or adhesives. Custom clip-in extensions are also available. Before a first extension appointment, clients have a color matching consultation to discuss their goals and what the extensions would need. A non-refundable deposit reserves the first appointment and goes toward purchasing the hair. The first visit covers prepping the hair, a wash and blow-dry on natural hair, and a haircut to blend the extensions. Color to customize the extensions is charged separately. Adjustments take about 1.5 to 3 hours and are booked every 6 to 8 weeks, and include removing the extensions, washing, reapplying them and a blending cut if needed. The salon says extensions usually last 6 to 9 months, and up to a year with good home care. Home care advice includes brushing daily between the wefts, drying the roots after washing, using moisturizing products and leave-in conditioner on the ends, and avoiding oils and conditioners on the roots.

Makeup appointments include false lashes. The Bride To Be application is a 75-minute session priced at $215, and the Special Occasion application is a 60-minute session priced at $125. Clients are advised to exfoliate the night before, moisturize, and pause lash or brow serums and irritating skin serums a few days before. Eyebrow tinting is a semi-permanent color matched to natural hair or customized to a preferred darkness. Waxing is recommended for first-time tint clients. The salon says a tint lasts about 4 to 6 weeks on blondes and 6 to 8 weeks on brunettes or darker shades.

Appointments can be booked online or by phone. Online booking requires a card on file, which is not charged unless a cancellation or no-show fee applies. Cancellations need 24 hours notice; later cancellations are charged 50% of the reserved services, and a no-call, no-show is charged the full reserved service. Refunds are not given, though adjustments within reason may be considered if requested within 2 weeks of the appointment. Cash and all major cards are accepted, but checks are not. Gratuity can be paid in cash or through Venmo, not on a card. A waitlist notifies clients when a preferred stylist has an opening. Gift cards are sold in the salon and online. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday 10am to 8pm, Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 4pm, and closed Monday and Sunday, with some seasonal variation.
