Carley founded Altered Aura to bring scalp care together with relaxation, nature and science. The business is built around the scalp, with the rituals ranging from a shorter scalp treatment up to a combined scalp and face ritual that runs more than two hours.

About

Every full ritual opens with an in-depth look at the scalp grounded in trichology, and the treatment is then personalized. Steps can include gentle exfoliation, a deep cleanse, scalp massage with warm or hot plant-based oil, steam, a botanical rinse, aromatherapy and specialized massage. The salon describes its Ascension Ritual as the most indulgent head spa experience it offers, a two-hour session that adds a Japanese head spa method, custom hot oil, lymphatic facial massage and arm and hand massage.

Beyond the rituals, clients can book a 45-minute shampoo and blowout, or a gua sha facial massage with cleanser and moisturizer. Packages bundle three visits of a single ritual level, or combine one of each signature ritual, and monthly memberships include one ritual a month along with retail and add-on discounts. Gift cards are available in set amounts or a custom amount.

Scalp care comes first, blending science with nature and relaxation, with each treatment customized to the individual client.
