Alisa Pose is an extensions business based in University Heights, operating inside Let Your Hair Down, Hair & Skin Boutique at 2125 Adams Avenue. It was previously offered online under the name The Hair You Wear, a name no longer in use. Clients come from University Heights, Mission Valley, La Jolla and Del Mar. From Mission Valley, the drive is about ten minutes east on Friars Road and then up to Adams Avenue.

The studio offers five methods. Keratin Fusion K-Tip extensions are bonded one strand at a time, allowing custom placement; they take the longest to install of the five and can last several months with proper care. Individual tape-in extensions are placed one piece at a time on ultra-thin tape and can be reused at maintenance visits. Undetectable tape row extensions are installed in rows, usually in under an hour, and can be reused for up to a year with professional maintenance. Hand-tied wefts suit fine to medium hair, can blend several tones into one row, and need a move-up every six to eight weeks. Volume wefts are machine-crafted, thicker and carry more hair per row, suiting medium to thick hair, and are reusable through multiple move-up appointments. Premium human hair is used across the methods.

Color is matched against the client's own hair in the salon light, using tones kept on site, and most sets do not need added color when matched properly. The first appointment costs more because it includes the hair, while move-up appointments cost considerably less. Pricing depends mainly on how much hair is needed and how long installation takes, so quotes are given at consultation, in writing, before booking and not from a photo. Financing can be discussed at that time.

The studio is candid that extensions can damage hair, depending on weight, tension and who installs them.
