About

ALIBI Collective operates out of a roughly century-old, two-story house in Glenwood South. Co-founders Talia and Cleo found the house about eight years ago and renovated it themselves, and Talia is the salon's owner.

Rather than one management structure, ALIBI brings together independent beauty professionals who build their own practices in the building. The collective aims to help artists run their businesses on their own terms, with autonomy, care and collaboration guiding a space without hierarchy. It describes itself as a place where self-expression is protected and welcomed, and states that bigotry, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and body shaming have no place there.

To visit, use the outside staircase on the left side of the house to reach the upstairs entrance; free street parking is available nearby. ALIBI does not publish hours, so clients contact the artist they want for availability and book through that artist's own platform. Questions about which artist might suit a client can be sent to alibicollectivenc@gmail.com. Independent professionals can apply to join, though space is limited and fit is considered.

Every artist operates as an independent business, working side by side in one shared studio without a central management structure.

Each artist works in a separate studio with its own design inside the century-old house.
