About

African Queen Hair Braiding was founded by Queenstabel Fetsop Mofor with the aim of building a beauty and lifestyle brand. The salon's mission centers on celebrating African hair through braiding in a welcoming, comfortable setting, and it says it supports community initiatives around education, empowerment and economic opportunity.

The braiding menu covers box braids, knotless braids, boho braids, Bora Bora braids, triangle parts, Senegalese and Malian twists, passion twists, Fulani braids, cornrows and lemonade braids, with sizes ranging from small to jumbo and options for kids, teens, adults and men. The braiders train through ongoing continuing education across classic and contemporary styles. Many prices are listed as starting rates, and hair is sometimes included and sometimes not, so the price depends on the style and whether the client supplies hair.

Beyond braids, the salon offers natural hair styling such as twist outs, bantu knots, afro puffs and protective updos or halo braids. Weave work includes sew-in weaves, quick weaves and crochet braids, and the team installs hair extensions and customizes and styles wigs. Hair care treatments include deep conditioning, scalp treatments and hot oil treatments, and a hair wash is available. A master class on braiding styles is offered for clients who want to learn to do the styles themselves.

The salon is open every day from 8 AM to 11 PM. New clients who book more than one service pay a $60 deposit that is credited to the visit total. Deposits should be made through the website or by phone rather than through Facebook or CashApp, and cash is accepted after the service is complete. Clients are asked to arrive 15 minutes early, and cancellations or reschedules need at least 24 hours' notice; later changes carry a fee of 50% of the reserved appointment, and no-shows are charged the full appointment amount. Unpaid cancellation fees must be cleared before a new appointment can be booked.

Built around celebrating African hair through braiding, with a focus on a welcoming environment and education for clients.

The space is set up to feel welcoming and comfortable.
