About

AcuEsthetics was formerly Health and Healing Acupuncture. Esthetic services were added later, and the practice now operates from 11431 N. Port Washington Road, Suite 106A, and also from 10602 N. Port Washington Road, Suite 101, both in Mequon.

Acupuncture is the core of the practice. The first visit runs about two hours and later visits about 75 minutes. Treatments use about 10 to 20 single-use, pre-sterilized needles that stay in for 15 to 20 minutes, and the practitioner checks pulse and tongue as part of the diagnostic process. An acupuncture treatment may also include 10 to 15 minutes of tui na, cupping, or both. Clients who prefer not to have needles can ask for a gentler option built on acupressure and tui na.

Esthetic services include facials in two versions, one for most skin types and one for oily or acne-prone skin, plus microdermabrasion, which uses a hand-held mechanical device with suction and fine crystal powder, and light therapy. Facials run about 75 minutes and include skin analysis, cleansing, steam, two mask applications, a paraffin wax hand treatment and neck, hand, foot and facial massage. Product choice follows skin type and the client's concerns. Extractions are limited to 10 minutes.

The signature treatments combine these methods. The Qi Facial pairs acupuncture, cupping and gua sha with a facial, followed by serums and a foot massage, and takes 90 to 120 minutes. Heaven and Earth Wellness begins with constitutional acupuncture points and adds a facial, hand and arm massage, and lower leg and foot massage over about 90 minutes.

Other offerings include Chinese herbs, nutritional consultation, acupressure, breathwork, postural awareness, simple stretches and NADA treatment, which the practice describes as mainly used for PTSD and detox. Standard Process whole food supplements are also available. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice, and no-shows are charged the full fee for the booked service. The practice no longer takes insurance, though Health Savings Accounts typically accept acupuncture as a payable service.

The practice combines acupuncture with diaphragmatic breathing instruction, simple stretches and dietary suggestions, and the practitioner works without judgment and takes time to get to know each patient.
