About Face Design Team was founded in 1994 by Kari Larsen. Gina Schmidt became a business partner with Kari in 2004, and the two now co-own the business. Clients can book in the salon or have the artists come to them, and the team works for clients across the country and abroad.

For brides, the business offers boudoir, bridal portrait, engagement photo and on-location wedding day makeup and hair. A trial run with the artist who will lead on the wedding day is available, and the site recommends booking it two to three months before the wedding. Brides receive a touch-up kit that includes a lip product, and each makeup client receives a small kit. Some artists speak Spanish fluently, so clients who need that should ask when booking. The number of artists scheduled depends on the services and time needed, from one artist up to as many as the job requires.

Booking is confirmed within 24 hours with a quote and a request for payment. A 50% deposit secures an event date, and dates are not held without it. Services can be booked up to a year in advance, with the booking guaranteed by contract. Gratuity is not included in the price, and the site says 15% to 20% is customary for excellent service. Cash, check, and major credit and debit cards are accepted with no extra fees. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with weekend bookings by appointment. Hygiene practices include single-use disposable sponges, puffs and mascara wands, with no double dipping into shared product. Makeup brushes are used on one client only, then cleaned and sanitized with Cinema Secrets Professional Brush Cleaner. Hairbrushes and combs are cleaned in line with OSHA rules, while products and tools follow Florida Department of Cosmetology practices. Every hairstylist holds a current Florida cosmetology license. Makeup artists hold a current cosmetology or facial specialist license under Florida DBPR rules, carry insurance, and complete the continuing education the DBPR requires. Team members pass a security clearance and keep client communication discreet and confidential. The salon describes itself as award-winning in makeup and hair design.
