ABBA Wig Studio

ABBA Wig Studio, also called ABBA Wigs or ABBA Wig Salon, is a wig salon on Kramer Lane in Austin. Sal Franco founded it to give clients a private place to be fitted for a wig. The salon works with people who have hair loss from chemotherapy, alopecia, trichotillomania or other medically induced causes.

The salon carries human and synthetic wigs, human and synthetic top pieces, and clip-on hair extensions. It also stocks caps, hats, turbans, wig styling products and accessories. A gallery shows more than one hundred hair designs so clients can look at styles before they visit.

A visit usually begins with a free private consultation, which can last one to two hours. A wig bought somewhere else needs a consultation before the salon will quote work on it, and appointments are preferred. Wig care demonstrations are included with a purchase.

Wig alterations and customizing are included with a wig bought at the salon. This can mean tape tabs or clips for a secure fit, plus custom cutting and thinning where needed. Styling or haircutting for wigs bought elsewhere starts at $200, and hair piece styling, cutting and repair not bought here also starts at $200.

The salon's stated priority is customized service fitted to each client's needs. Its stylists are described as licensed cosmetologists with specialized training in wigs and hair pieces.
