A World of Ash

A World of Ash works by private appointment only, with each visit kept to one client at a time. Services are tailored to the individual, from soft and natural looks to bold ones, and the studio room is kept dark and quiet so the appointment stays focused.

The studio is run by owner and hairstylist Ash Hensel, a creative color specialist known for transformative work with an editorial edge. Clients tend to be people who want their hair to stand out rather than blend in.

Creative color, major transformations and color correction all begin with a consultation. Color services require a deposit between $100 and $250, while haircuts and smaller services require $50 to $75. Deposits are non-refundable and go toward the service on the appointment day. A consultation deposit is credited to the first service, but it is forfeited if no appointment is booked afterward.

Scheduling changes carry fees. Cancellations or rescheduling need at least 72 hours' notice. Fees rise as notice shortens, up to 100 percent of the service plus a $100 fee for late cancellations or no-shows, charged automatically to the card on file. Clients more than 10 minutes late may need to reschedule or have their service adjusted, and hourly-rated projects begin at the booked time.

The studio says its results are intentional and lasting. It does not offer refunds on services, but if a concern is raised within two days, a return visit for adjustments is available at no added cost.
